Get Ahead. Stay Ahead.

Welcome Historians!

The following assignment allows you to get ahead on your APUSH readings and allows you to earn extra credit. Use the focus questions to guide you through the readings. READING is the key to success in this course. I cannot cover EVERYTHING in your textbook. This is a college course; you are responsible for your learning.

  • Focus questions align with the bold subheadings.  Read the focus questions and vocabulary before reading each section . Then, use them as a guide as to what to pay attention to while reading. Find the answers while you are reading, and jot them down. If you are still struggling to answer the question, go back and reread text. Scan images and subtext on pages for a fuller understanding. Performing these strategies is a sign of college readiness, and shows you are an active reader.

  • Using the focus questions will prepare you for quizzes. Handwritten notes will be allowed on all quizzes in my class. Why handwritten notes only? When you write something down, it sticks in your memory more than if you type it on a computer.

  • Additionally, you have been provided IDs for the first unit of our course. For every 10 definitions you write out, you will receive a point of extra credit on your unit exam.

  • Focus questions and IDs will be provided to you for every unit of study in the course.

  • Textbook pages, focus questions, and IDs can be found when you click on "The Assignment" tab.
